Jerusalem, Now and Forever – 50th Anniversary event
Knesset Inaugurates Jerusalem Jubilee Celebration
The Knesset Education Committee on Tuesday held the inauguration of “Jerusalem Now & Forever,” a photo exhibition celebrating the 50th year of the reunification of Jerusalem. The exhibition features photos from the renowned “Photographer of Jerusalem,” Sharon Gabay, who captured the beauty, diversity and tolerance of the Holy City. The images are printed on glass, representing the fragility of the holy city in the reality of today’s Middle East.
The images will be displayed at the Knesset over the next two weeks, and then travel around the world in 2017, providing people everywhere with the opportunity to celebrate 50 years of a unified Jerusalem. It will make stops in 50 global cities, landing finally in NY City.
Hebraicity: A Thousand Mile Journey
by Ed Boring, BYNA Elder, also at: unity413.blogspot.com
“A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” So said Lao Tzu, the ancient Confucian philosopher. And so it is with the renewal of this blog, and also with the life journey I hope to share here. One step ~ one post that will be followed by many more, describing the progression of a journey. Well, at least part of a journey. I could begin the telling of this story at several relevant points – my physical birth, my spiritual birth, or at any one of the many high or low points along the way. Since the main goal of this blog now is to share my “Hebraic” adventures, the story begins when I saw an open door and stepped through it. Also, importantly, the journey is not over. I am still walking.*
Exodus Road Band – Psalm 36
Prayer Psalms, Psalm 83
by Ephrimona of http://amephraimchai.blogspot.co.il/
A word from Ephraim Frank:
Shalom Fellow Israelite,
As most of you know, next week 70 nations (fullness of the nations) are meeting in Paris to make plans to solve the Israeli – Palestinian conflict. We do not know exactly what our Elohim will have them decide, but we know it will be of Him and in fulfillment of His latter day prophecies.
May this be a time for His people, His flock, to seek His face, repent and give Him sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving.
Baruch Ata, YHVH, Elohey Yisrael, Avi.
(Bless You, YHVH – Elohim of Israel, my Father)
Behold, YHVH – Elohey Yisrael, Your enemies make a tumult; and those who hate You have lifted up their head: the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moav and the Hagrites, Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek, P’leshet (Philistia) with the inhabitants of Tzor (Tyre); Ashur (Assyria) also has joined with them. They are helping the children of Lot. They have taken crafty counsel against us, Your people Yisrael, and are consulting together against us, Your hidden ones. For they are consulting together with one consent, they have formed a confederacy against You. They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Yisrael may be remembered no more.”
O YHVH – Elohey Tzva’ot (God of the Armies), do not keep silent, do not hold Your peace and do not be still, O Elohey Avraham, Yitzchak and Ya’acov (God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob). Deal with them as with Mid’yan, as with Sis’ra, as with Yavin (Jabin) at the brook of Kishon, who perished at Ein Dor, and who became as refuse on the earth. Make their nobles like Orev (Oreb), and like Ze’ev (Zeev); yes, all their princes like Zevach (Zebah) and Tzalmunna (Zalmunna), who said, “Let us take for ourselves the pastures of Elohim for a possession.”
O Elohi (my God), make them like the whirling dust; like the chaff before the wind! Just as the fire burns the woods, and as the flame sets the mountains on fire, so pursue them with Your tempest and frighten them with Your storm. Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek Your name, YHVH – Elohey Yeshua’teynu (God of our Salvation). Let them be confounded and dismayed forever. Yes, let them be put to shame and perish, that they may know that You, Elohey Yisrael (God of Israel), Who alone is YHVH – Ribon Olam (Sovereign of the Universe), El Elyon (God Most High), over all the earth.
Hallelu-Yah!!! For You, YHVH, are Elohim. You are Elohey Yisrael, Elohey Avraham, Yitzchak and Ya’acov. Avi the Almighty reigns!

What’s for Dinner? – Biblically Kosher Meals
Skillet Sweet & Sour Stuffed Cabbage Wannabe
I love stuffed cabbage but not the work. So with a little bit of this and that, this one pot meal was born.
1 cabbage, shredded
3 tablespoons oil (I prefer coconut)
1 large onion, diced
1 lb ground turkey (can be beef, if you prefer)
1 cup rice
1 cup water
1⁄2 cup ketchup
1⁄2 teaspoon ginger, ground
1⁄2 teaspoon allspice, ground
1 (14 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1⁄4 cup apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons brown sugar (or 1 T agave syrup if sugar is a problem)
salt & pepper
Saute onions in oil until translucent. About 5 minutes.
Add turkey to onions and cook on medium heat, stirring to break up into small crumbles.
Add rice, water, ketchup, ginger and allspice. Bring to boil. Then turn to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
Mix diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, apple cider vinegar and sugar (or agave). Adjust sweetness. Check salt level.
Top meat and rice mixture with cabbage shreds. Top cabbage with tomato mixture. Simmer 30 minutes or until cabbage is tender.
About 4 to 6 servings.
Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem
Prayer for the State of Israel
TEFILAH LIMDINAT YISRA’EL / PRAYER FOR THE STATE OF ISRAEL
From Kol Haneshamah: Shabbat Vehagim, the Shabbat and Festival siddur of the Reconstructionist Movement
Rock and champion of Israel, please bless the state of Israel, first fruit of the flourishing of the fruit of our redemption. Guard it in the abundance of your love. Spread over it the shelter of your peace. Send forth your light and truth to those who lead and judge it, and to those who hold elective office. Establish in them, through your presence, wise counsel, that they might walk in the way of justice, freedom and integrity. Strengthen the hands of those who guard our holy land.
Let them inherit salvation and life. And give peace to the land, and perpetual joy to its inhabitants. Appoint for a blessing all our kindred of the house of Israel in all the lands of their dispersion. Plant in their hearts a love of Zion. And for all our people everywhere, may God be with them, and may they have the opportunity to go up to the land. Cause your spirit’s influence to emanate upon all dwellers of our holy land. Remove from their midst hatred and enmity, jealousy and wickedness.
Plant in their hearts love and kinship, peace and friendship. And soon fulfill the vision of your prophet Nathan: “Nation shall not lift up sword against nation. Let them no longer learn ways of war … [b’shem Y’shua …]
And let us say: Amen.
