Love Covers …

Dorothy Wilson,

My husband Tommy and I are scheduled to facilitate our Torah group’s study this week with Torah portion Acharei Mot (Leviticus 16:1-18:20). As I have been reading and pondering, something very profound stood out to me.

Leviticus 16:1

“YHVH spoke to Moses after the death of Aaron’s two sons, when they approached before YHVH, and they died.”

Nadab & Abihu tried to approach YHVH in a manner that YHVH had not commanded them.

Leviticus 10:1-2

The sons of Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, each took his fire pan, they put fire in them and placed incense upon it; and they brought before YHVH an alien fire that He had not commanded them. A fire came forth from before YHVH and consumed them, and they died before YHVH.”

Aaron and his sons were consecrated or dedicated for the purpose of serving YHVH in the Tent of Meeting. They took it upon themselves to bring incense before YHVH at a time of their choosing, NOT as YHVH had prescribed.

All You Need

by Ed Boring, BYNA Elder and at

As I continued to ponder the truths I explored in my previous post, I landed on a passage about “all things” that I had not included in that post. It is in the familiar 13th chapter of 1 Corinthians, verse 7.

“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

Powerful qualifications. Doesn’t leave any room for confusion. Wide-eyed surprise, yes. But not confusion.

So, this got me thinking about LOVE. Of course. It is clearly a key ingredient in our walk with HaShem. Yeshua said to love YHVH is our greatest command, and also to love one another. What does that mean? What is love?

Prayer Psalms, Psalm 15

by Ephrimona of

Baruch Ata YHVH, Elohey Yisrael, Avi.
(Bless You, YHVH – Elohim of Israel, my Father)

O YHVH – Elohey Yisrael, Avi (my Father), my heart yearns to abide in Your tent and to dwell in Your Kadosh (Holy/Set-Apart), hill. But You require, O El Tzid’kee (my Righteousness), that I walk uprightly before You, doing works of righteousness. You ask me to speak the truth in my heart and not to backbite or slander with my tongue, nor do evil to my neighbor.

I long to have your Torah written on my heart, that I will not take up a reproach against a friend; but will honor those who fear You, YHVH – El Gadol (Great God). I pray that my eye will despise a vile person, and that I will never take a bribe against the innocent. If I can accomplish these few things, You said Elohey Ya’acov, that I shall dwell in Your house and never be moved.

Hallelu-Yah!!! For You YHVH are Elohim. You are Elohey Yisrael, Elohey Avraham, Yitzchak and Ya’acov. Avi the Almighty reigns!

Prayer for the State of Israel

Translated from the Rabbinical Council of America Edition of the Artscroll Siddur

Our Father who is in the heavens, Rock of Israel and its Redeemer, bless the state of Israel, the first sprouting of our redemption. Protect her with the pinion of Your kindness and spread over her the sukkah of Your peace and send Your Light and Your Truth to her leaders, her officials and her counsellors and make them straight with good advice from Your presence and strengthen the hands of the guardians, the defenders of our holy land. Bequeath and confer upon them O Elohim of our salvation, help and a crown of victory. You will crown them and You will give peace in the land and eternal happiness to the ones who dwell in her and for all our brothers of the house of Israel, count and please attend to them in all the lands of their dispersion. Cause them to go quickly and upright to Zion Your city, and to Yerushalayim the dwelling place of Your Name. As it is written in the Torah of Moshe Your Servant, If [you are] driven away, wandering at the end of the Heavens, from there YHVH your Elohim will gather you and from there He will take you. YHVH your Elohim will bring you to the land which your fathers inherited and He will cause you to inherit it and He will do good to you and He will may you many more than your fathers and unite our hear for love. [He will] have us fear and regard His Name with awe and guard all the Words of Your Torah. Send to us quickly the Son of David, the Anointed One of Your Justice to redeem the ones who wait for Your Salvation. Shine forth in splendor the pride of Your Strength upon all the ones who dwell in Earth, Your Land, and will say each one who has breath, YHVH the Elohim of Israel is King and His Kingship is in every dominion. Amein and Selah!
