We have been reviewing the book, The Blood Covenant, by H. Clay Trumbull.
The first half of the book has been uncomfortable reading. The methods, customs, and background presented have been unsettling as the author presents a foundation of research.
The second half of the book, which covers blood covenant rites throughout the Bible, has caused us to realize we have not had a full understanding of blood covenants.
By looking through the blood covenant lens, a pattern woven throughout scripture comes into focus. We see evidence of this sacred mutual binding agreement into which two parties enter, thereby connecting themselves together as one new being.
Passages emerge with greater understanding. Such as John 15:7, “If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”
This topic has led us to ask the question-
Do we fully understand the significance and responsibility of approaching our King expressing our desire to be in a covenant relationship with Him and to be included in the binding covenant agreements He has entered into with our forefathers?
Abba, thank you for helping us comprehend the magnitude of blood covenants you have established with the whole House of Israel. Give us the ability to guard and satisfy our end of sacred covenants we have requested to enter into with You.
