Take a look inside. Listen to your own thoughts. How often have youevaluated someone and come to the conclusion that you are better? Of course, you do not put it to yourself that way, exactly; and you would NEVER express such a thought out loud! Be honest – a little raising of the eyebrows; a little clucking of the tongue; a little shaking of the head; a little rolling of the eyes; and even sometimes turning to the person next to you and saying, “Did you see….?”
“[Let] nothing [be done] through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.” (Philippians 2:3, NKJV)
Normal human behavior. How often do we excuse ourselves by saying, “that’s how everybody does…”?
“Create in me a clean heart, O God; renew in me a resolute spirit.” (Psalm 51:10, CJB)
