2 Kings 6:15-17
This is a familiar story about how Elisha’s attendant could only see the threatening army that surrounded them, and it made him fearful. The attendant asks, “What are we going to do?”
Have you been asking yourself this question lately? What are we going to do? What is happening? We are surrounded!
In this story, Elisha seems so calm and matter-of-fact. He says, “Do not fear.”
That is the first thing we need to be repeating to ourselves all day, everyday.
“Do not fear.”
“Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
Then Elisha prayed for his attendant’s eyes to be opened. Notice that “those who are with us” were already there, but the attendant just could not see them. Elisha saw them. He knew they were there. That’s why he could be so calm and matter-of-fact. Yes, I said “fact.”
The fact is that YHVH and the hosts he commands are guarding you.
When the attendant’s eyes were opened, he saw “the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around.”
Keep your line to YHVH open, and ask him to give you vision to see the fiery hosts that surround you.
And…
“Do not fear.”
