Scripture: “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.” – Ezekiel 22:30
“Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” – 1 John 4:16

Teshuvah is not only personal—it is also communal. In Jewish tradition, prayers of repentance are often offered in the plural: “We have sinned, we have transgressed.” This reflects the reality that Israel stands as one people before God. Messianic believers add the intercessory model of Yeshua, who stands as High Priest, interceding for us.

To stand in the gap is to take responsibility beyond yourself, praying for mercy upon others. During the Days of Awe, our prayers include family, community, and even nations. We imitate Moses, who interceded for Israel after the golden calf, and Yeshua, who prayed forgiveness for those who crucified Him.

Reflection: – Who in your life or community needs your intercession during this season? – How can you imitate Yeshua by standing in the gap?

Prayer: Lord, make me an intercessor. Teach me to pray beyond myself, carrying others to Your throne. May my repentance inspire communal healing. Amen.
