Deuteronomy 4:9 – “Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children’s children—“
Let’s face it, life gets busy. We get so caught up in the things we need to do just to take care of daily life that we often have things not yet done at the end of the day that we wish we could have achieved. Have you ever thought “I wish there were more hours in a day?” Do we tend to forget things, even important things, due to how packed our schedules are? The fact that we are instructed not to forget the things we have seen Yah do on our behalf testifies to the fact that we are prone to forget.
Over and again we are told things like: remember, keep, do, guard, observe, listen, and so on. When we allow other things into our “bubble” or “line of vision” it can be easy to take our eyes off of what is important. We may do this, even for a second, and it can put our day off course. We need to keep our focus on higher things throughout the day. We can do this by acknowledging things like “everything you do, do unto Yah.” This doesn’t change our action but it now may bring a better perspective to our circumstances.
When we acknowledge that all we do, we do for Him, it helps us remember that there is something bigger than how my day is going. If we can keep our heart and eyes on the words of our Creator, then we will be walking in His ways a little more confidently each day. What’s the best way to forget something? Put it off to later, and then later, and then it never comes to be. We tend to forget things when it does not take a place of priority in our life.
Let us keep our hearts set on the desires of the One who called us out of darkness and into His marvelous light. This way we will not forget them, and then we can impart the life and goodness of Elohim to those around us.
