Beverly Hall & Cathy Helms: Called Up to Jerusalem, part 4

It is possible to bring a good report from God’s Promised Land and yet include in that report the unpleasant things in the land. That’s how Beverly Hall and Cathy Helms start this final segment of our conversation in their comments about crime in Israel, among other negative aspects of life there. Just like those ancient Hebrews who heard from the Ten Spies and from Joshua and Caleb, we have a choice how to think about such things. We could let the negative cloud our perceptions of Israel, but, like Cathy and Bev, we can remember God’s promises and bring those negative elements into our prayers for His land and people!

A healthy perspective on Israel, the land and people of God, actually has a connection to repentance, or teshuva in Hebrew. We’ll hear about that in the midrash by Barry Phillips and David Jones explain, and as we hear in the music of Teshuva and Wilderness Cry.
