Scripture: “Only one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” – Luke 10:42 “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and trust shall be your strength.” – Isaiah 30:15

In our modern world, we are inundated with noise, responsibility, and distraction. Even in our spiritual lives, we may find ourselves overwhelmed with information, rituals, and expectations. Day 11 of Teshuvah invites us to return to simplicity.

Yeshua commended Mary of Bethany for choosing the “better part”—to sit at His feet and listen. In contrast, her sister Martha was busy, distracted, even resentful. This familiar story highlights a choice that each of us faces: to focus on activity or to focus on intimacy.

During this season, the invitation is clear—slow down, declutter your soul, and return to the simple, profound act of being with God.

Jewish tradition holds that Elul is a time when “the King is in the field”—accessible, near, ready to listen. You don’t need fancy words or elaborate prayers. You simply need to show up with your whole heart.

Simplicity also means letting go of the burden of self-perfection. Teshuvah isn’t about becoming flawless; it’s about becoming honest. Come back to the basics: love God, love people, walk humbly.

Reflection: – What distractions are keeping you from God? – How can you simplify your spiritual walk today?

Prayer: Lord, I lay down all the clutter I’ve allowed to grow in my soul. Help me return to the simplicity of loving You and listening for Your voice. Draw me close, and remind me of what truly matters. Amen.
