Scripture: “Let your eyes look directly ahead and your gaze be fixed straight in front of you.” – Proverbs 4:25 “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” – Luke 9:62

Distractions are one of the most potent enemies of spiritual progress. During this season of Teshuvah, we are called to turn our eyes back to what matters most. Life pulls us in a thousand directions, but repentance is the act of saying, “I choose to focus again on God.”

In Hebrew, the root of the word Teshuvah (שוב) literally means “to turn.” Each day we are given opportunities to turn away from the trivial and toward the eternal. The question is not whether distractions exist, but whether we will give them our attention.

Yeshua warns about the danger of looking back while trying to move forward. Just as Lot’s wife turned back and became frozen in her regret, so too can we become stuck if we are always looking over our shoulder or scattered by anxiety.

Teshuvah is the act of training our eyes, minds, and hearts to look ahead—to the God who leads us, the Kingdom He invites us to build, and the life He calls us to live.

Reflection: – What distractions most commonly steal your focus from God? – How can you take intentional steps to guard your attention today?

Prayer: Father, help me to fix my eyes on You. Remove the noise and chaos that cloud my heart. Let this season of Teshuvah be a time of holy focus and clarity as I walk in the footsteps of Your Son. Amen.
