Frank Houtz Memorial Scholarship Awarded to Elizabeth Coennen

Elizabeth Coennen has big dreams. One day she wants to open a religious-based spa retreat in the mountains that would promote spiritual, mental, and physical health. That dream may be a long way from fulfillment, but she took a big step toward it by applying for the Frank Houtz Memorial Scholarship. Her courageous step in applying for the scholarship to help her pursue a career in cosmetology was rewarded when she was selected from among several candidates to receive the Fall 2021 award!
Elizabeth received the Houtz Scholarship check and certificate on May 18 at her home in Greenville, South Carolina. BYNA’s Family Reunion Directors Tommy and Dorothy Wilson coordinated with her parents, Dick and Angie Coennen, to surprise her with the presentation. The award comes at a very good time as Elizabeth was prayerfully seeking a way to meet expenses for her studies at the Paul Mitchell Cosmetology School in Greenville.
