The 9th of Av is one of the most solemn and mournful days of the Jewish year. It marks the destruction of both the first and second Temples, the day the Jews were expelled from England and Spain, the start of the crusades, and many other tragedies. For the Jewish community, this day is one of fasting and prayer.
