Could the modern Jewish State of Israel have been born without the Hebrew language? Maybe, but what language would the Jews from many nations who returned to their homeland have chosen if not Hebrew? That’s why Eliezer Ben Yehuda labored for forty years to resurrect Hebrew as a modern language. Ben Yehuda lived to see Hebrew established as the language of what was then called British Mandatory Palestine in 1922. Today, Jewish people and their allies around the world continue to be blessed by the fruit of his Zionist vision.
The vision of Ben Yehuda is what inspires Michail Bantseev with a similar vision for the returning House of Joseph. He and his wife Melanie started learning Hebrew soon after they were married, and now are raising their children to know the language of their fathers, both those of Judah and those of the scattered tribes of Joseph.
This scope of this vision extends far beyond the Bantseev family. That is why Michail has been teaching Hebrew for several years, and now offers classes for everyone from beginners to advanced students desiring to study the Bible in the original language, and to become conversant in the language of Israel. In this conversation, Michail and Melanie share their story and explain how they came into this calling as teachers of Hebrew.
