Even a casual reader of the New Testament notices that the writers refer to passages from the Old Testament, or Tanakh. That means Paul and his contemporaries were aware of what Moses and the Prophets wrote, but did they have a deeper purpose and pattern in their writing that goes beyond simple quotations and references?
This is the line of thinking that motivated Bob O’Dell and his colleagues to look for patterns, or echoes, from the Torah in the Gospels and Epistles of the Apostolic Writings. What they found is astounding: the New Testament books precisely mirror, or echo, the books of the Torah! Whether this was intentional on the part of the apostolic authors, or divine guidance from the Holy Spirit, the patterns are clearly identifiable.
The result of all this is publication of The Echoes Bible, a series of volumes pairing books of the Torah with the echoing books from the Apostolic Writings. In this five-part interview, Bob tells us the story of The Echoes Bible, and takes us into an investigation of the echoes of Leviticus that Paul built into Romans. This is just a sample of the many treasures opening up through this new lens of looking at scripture!
There are currently three volumes of The Echoes Bible in print: Leviticus & Romans, Numbers & 1 Corinthians, and Deuteronomy & 2 Corinthians. More are on the way! To learn more and to purchase The Echoes Bible volumes, visit https://www.echoesbible.com/.
