Bob O’Dell: The Echoes Bible, part 4

Is the New Testament a midrash on the Torah? Bob O’Dell suggests that’s one way to look at it. That’s an observation that has grown out of his work with The Echoes Bible, which uncovers the connections of New Testament writings with the works of Moses. As Bob explains, since Jewish scholars have been midrashing – discussing, theorizing, and postulating – on the Torah for centuries, it stands to reason that the Jewish writers of the New Testament would have done the same. That’s a thread that enlivens our conversation in this fourth part of our interview.

Regarding midrash, Barry Phillips and David Jones investigate the implications of the instruction to train up our children in the way they should go. Who should do this training, what standards should they use, and what is the desired outcome? Our musical guests, Samuel and Benjamin Wearp and the Exodus Road Band, share insights on this topic.

There are currently three volumes of The Echoes Bible in print: Leviticus & Romans, Numbers & 1 Corinthians, and Deuteronomy & 2 Corinthians. More are on the way! To learn more and to purchase The Echoes Bible volumes, visit https://www.echoesbible.com/.
